Billy Corgan Backs Axl Rose’ Not Attending Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

If there’s anyone who  understands the troubles that Axl Rose is going through trying to continue his band as the lone remaining member, it’s Billy Corgan. The Smashing Pumpkins singer famously quarreled with past bandmates before continuing the band’s legacy with a new group around him, much like Rose has done with Guns N’ Roses.
Corgan told Australia’s Triple M, “I actually really appreciate the position that Axl was in and why he didn’t want to go. I think he felt like he was being set up, and in a way he was wise not to go because he would only have come out like he was being a spoiled sport.”
The singer continues, “He didn’t want to play nice with the old team, and he obviously has his personal reasons. But also, the minute he gets up onstage with the original band, then everything he does that isn’t like that is like, it’s almost as if he’s trying not to do something, and he hasn’t been doing it in many years.”
Corgan says there’s an expectation that comes with a reunion and he continually deals with it. He says he still gets fan messages through social networking asking why he doesn’t reunite with the original group. He adds, “Behind the scenes, it’s not as simple as that you know we all changed. All of us are different people than we were in the ’90s. I’m not sure I would have anything to talk to them about.by chad childers
